About the Event

Harriet Dyer

Harriet (BBC3, BBC Live at The Fringe, BBC Radio 4, BBC Knock Knock, BBC Ouch, Absolute Radio, The Russell Howard Hour) is an award winning comedian, writer and mental health advocate.

Harriet has been a full time comic since 2013. She’s had numerous critically acclaimed shows, works for the majority of big clubs and festivals, regularly gigs overseas, and prides herself in being totally original! - An experience to behold, if you will.

Harriet has bipolar disorder and does a lot of comedy work around mental health. Her debut, solo, hour-long show Barking At Aeroplanes at Edinburgh Fringe about her struggles and adventures with mental health received critical acclaim, resulting in a tour.

Harriet was touched by the reaction the show received, with audience members expressing how much of an important show it was and how refreshing it was to hear someone talk so openly about mental health. This led to Harriet creating the award winning, monthly mental health comedy night Barking Tales which is beloved by its many regular attendees.

Most recently Harriet's written a book about her life to critical acclaim, and she's been one of the main writers on both seasons on Jon Richardson's Channel Hopping.

Kevin McDonnell –

Kevin has been doing live gigs since January 2022, and has done well over 100 so far, making rapid progress. He's supported comedians such as Paul Tonkinson, Tom Wrigglesworth and Jack Gleadow since October 2022. And in March 2023 appeared on stage in front of a sell-out 410 people at Stockton Arts Centre along with international headline comic Adam Rowe. He's won Funhouse Comedy Gong Shows twice and was deemed 'Best Act' at Fog Box and has gigged at wonderful places such as TribFest, Lawrence Batley Theatre, Hotwater Comedy Club including a 10 spot on the prestigious Sunday bill, Laughienda, he's Beat the Frog and done gigs throughout the UK and Germany. His background is in journalism and is also a published author. There is a great sense of words and language being used in his set and he has picked exactly the right turn of phrase to get the most out of what he is saying. He was probably the most nicely odd act of the show. He mixes rock solid down to earth observations with a dose of surrealism and the end result is surprisingly powerful.

Jordan Ducharme

Jordan is a Canadian born comedian on the rise. From humble beginnings starting in Vancouver (CA), Jordan worked hard to become a solid comedian on the local circuit. Not only performing comedy regularly in the city but hosting and producing a variety of shows.

Jordan began comedy hoping to adopt the witty and gritty type of humour that made him fall in love with stand up as a teenager. He's continued to mature into a competent powerhouse on stage, with no subject off limits and no stone left unturned in his own life.

Moving to Manchester in 2019, Jordan was quick to make a big splash, quickly winning the local clubs gong show competitions and transitioning them into work at said clubs.

Keep your eyes peeled for Jordan on nearby shows in the city as he continues to build himself into one of the more promising comedians the UK has to offer.

Awards and Competition

Shortlisted Best Newcomer - NW Comedy Awards 2022

2 times Winner of King Gong Show at The Comedy Store in Manchester, January and September 2019

Winner of Beat the Frog at The Frog and Bucket in Manchester, January 28th, 2019

Faizan Shah

Faizan is a Manchester-based comic who moved to the UK as a child, his well-crafted jokes make light of growing up in an immigrant household and the inevitable mental health challenges it brings. The quality of Faizan’s joke writing, and affable stage presence has seen him progress quickly from beating Comedy Store’s King Gong and Frog and Bucket’s Beat the Frog to now breaking through the circuit with a strong 15-minute set. We believe Faizan to be one of the most exciting new acts to come out of Manchester for a few years.

Quotes

"Some very good gags and a nice delivery" - COLIN FRY

"Nicely paced, deadpan delivery" Chortle

"Faizan is more deadpan and has some really cleverly written lines and ideas" – FREDDY QUINNE

Clinton Baptiste

Clinton is the flamboyant, unsubtle, and quite honestly useless psychic, medium and clairvoyant from Peter Kay’s television smash hit Phoenix Nights.

He will tell individual audience members straight what the spirits are telling him about their lives.

Always hilarious and never truly malicious, he figures he’s only being cruel to be kind.
